The successful applicants are funded for the award based on the following quota:
- Year 1: Division of Graduate Education USD 30,000 award + tuition + non-local auxiliary tuition (if applicable).
- Year 2: Department granting via an award, teaching help, or graduate candidate researcher (GSR) position tuition.
- Year 3: Department granting via award, teaching help, or GSR position tuition.
- Year 4: Division of Graduate Education USD 30,000 award + tuition (Cota-Robles 2).

- Candidates should be U.S. citizens, permanent locals, or undocumented candidates who qualify for nonresident supplemental tuition immunity under AB 540.
